WLS warns against delay of campus sale
Clock in Wells College Dining Hall
On March 16, the WLS wrote Associate Attorney General (AAG) Timothy Mulvey urging that he not support any motions to intervene in the college’s petition to the court to approve the sale of the Wells College campus to the Hiawatha Institute for Indigenous Knowledge (HIIK). We argued that the additional delay would risk serious harm to the historic buildings; please see letter below.
The AAG offered his opinion to the judge on March 20, stating that the motions would not cause delay and should be heard. Subsequently, the college attorney filed a letter to the court opposing the motions to intervene on issues of “standing,” and identifying additional risks. And so, on this issue WLS and HIIK find themselves in basic agreement with the college law firm that has treated the bidders, alums, and the community so very badly for nearly two years. (But as one of our board members said: even a stopped clock is right twice a day.)
